Selling to Germany after Brexit: the packaging-EPR layer
Brexit did not make German packaging producer responsibility disappear for UK sellers. UK packaging compliance, VAT, EORI and customs arrangements are separate from Germany-specific packaging EPR, LUCID, system participation and representative obligations.
Four compliance layers that are often confused
Customs, VAT, marketplace verification and packaging EPR each solve different problems. A valid EORI or German VAT number does not replace LUCID or the packaging representative requirement.
Make the German layer operational
EPRORA keeps the German mandate, LUCID status, packaging data and supported sales-channel evidence in one workspace so the seller can keep the existing commercial setup.
Frequently asked questions
Did Brexit create the German packaging EPR obligation?
German packaging producer responsibility is a destination-market obligation. Brexit changes the UK company’s wider EU relationship, but German packaging rules must be assessed on their own terms.
Does EORI replace LUCID?
No. EORI is a customs identifier and LUCID is the German packaging producer register.
Does a German VAT number replace an Authorised Representative?
No. A tax registration does not by itself satisfy the German statutory packaging representative requirement.

Product passports, serial numbers, QR codes and production integration
EPRORA can extend the same product and packaging data into Digital Product Passports, serial-number and QR-code-based product identity, supported marketplace/shop workflows and the Production Connector for production or enterprise-system integration.
Keep your shop. Add the German compliance layer.
Existing LUCID registrations, marketplaces and shops can remain in place. EPRORA organises the German Authorised Representative, LUCID status, packaging data and evidence workflow around them.
