Existing LUCID registration? The transition deadline is 12 November 2026
If your business was already registered in LUCID under the former Packaging Act, § 68(2) VerpackDG requires the changed registration details to be updated by 12 November 2026. For affected foreign producers without an establishment in Germany, this includes the authorised-representative information. The representative duty itself has applied since 12 August 2026; 12 November is not a general grace period for the underlying duty.
Who this is for
Foreign manufacturers, small online sellers, brands and established LUCID registrants that were registered before 12 August 2026 and now need to bring the existing record into line with the current VerpackDG framework.
Practical route
- Check whether the existing LUCID registration belongs to the current legal entity
- Confirm whether the Germany authorised-representative duty applies
- Set up the written German mandate where required
- Update the existing LUCID registration by 12 November 2026
- Keep ongoing packaging data, evidence and transferable compliance tasks in EPRORA
Use the existing LUCID registration instead of starting over
The transition rule keeps pre-existing registrations alive. The acquisition message is therefore simple: if the legal entity already has LUCID, do not rebuild the registration — update it correctly and connect the ongoing compliance workflow.
The deadline creates urgency, not a postponement of the legal duty
EPRORA must not market 12 November as permission to remain without a required representative until that date. The representative duty applies already; the transition date governs the update of existing registration details.
A practical conversion path for small sellers
Small Etsy, eBay, Vinted Pro, Shopify, WooCommerce and independent-shop businesses can start with their existing LUCID number, follow the producer-only update steps and then keep recurring evidence, quantities and deadlines organised in EPRORA.
Frequently asked questions
Does 12 November 2026 mean I can wait until then to appoint a representative?
No. The representative duty for affected foreign producers has applied since 12 August 2026. The 12 November date is the transition deadline in § 68(2) for updating existing registrations.
Should I create a new LUCID registration?
Normally no. § 68(2) continues existing registrations; the practical task is to update the existing record where required.
Who is this deadline most relevant for?
Businesses that were already registered under the former German Packaging Act before 12 August 2026. New market entrants must comply before the relevant first making available and should not treat 12 November as a general grace period.
Can EPRORA take over my existing record?
EPRORA can use the existing LUCID status and supporting data in its workflow. Producer-only LUCID actions remain with the producer; EPRORA handles the transferable mandate and ongoing compliance process.
