Irish packaging compliance and Repak do not replace Germany’s LUCID layer
Ireland’s packaging framework applies nationally. Businesses that cross the Irish major-producer thresholds face additional obligations, but Irish status never substitutes for a separate German producer-role, LUCID, system-participation and reporting assessment when goods are placed on the German market.
Irish major-producer thresholds are an Irish compliance concept
The Irish framework applies additional major-producer obligations where the relevant turnover and packaging-tonnage thresholds are exceeded. Those thresholds do not determine German packaging-EPR status.
Reuse data, not legal status
Material, weight and Packaging Master data can be reused across markets while each jurisdiction retains its own legal status and evidence.
Repak and Irish producer-responsibility compliance do not replace LUCID.
Reuse Irish product and packaging data, but keep legal registrations, schemes, reporting and evidence market-specific.
DPP, serial numbers, QR and production in the same data model
EPRORA can extend Product Master and Packaging Master data to Digital Product Passports, serial numbers, QR product identity and Production Connector workflows.
Frequently asked questions
Does Irish packaging compliance or Repak cover Germany?
No. Irish packaging producer-responsibility compliance is a separate national layer. Selling packaged goods into Germany requires a separate assessment of producer role, LUCID, system participation, reporting and authorised representation.
Is official LUCID registration free?
Yes. Official producer registration and ZSVR data reporting are free of charge. Private services and German dual-system participation are separate costs.
Can an Irish company keep an existing LUCID number?
Yes. For the same legal entity, the existing producer record should normally be retained and updated rather than duplicated.
Do Irish businesses need a German authorised representative?
A foreign producer without an establishment in Germany that directly supplies relevant packaging or packaged products to German end users must assess the current German authorised-representative requirement.
Can EPRORA connect commerce, product and production data?
Yes. Supported connectors, APIs, middleware and structured imports can connect commerce data with Product Master, Packaging Master, Digital Product Passports, serial numbers, QR identity and Production Connector workflows.
